Shelter City gast Samuel Opio, gaat Utrecht verlaten, hij keert terug naar huis in Kampala, Oeganda.

We nemen afscheid van hem op

woensdag 3 februari, 17.00 – 19.00 uur
in het Stadskantoor, 21^e etage

We nodigen u van harte uit om met hem terug te kijken op de afgelopen maanden en Samuel vertelt over zijn leven en werk in gltbi-organisatie Queer Youth Uganda.

Als u nog niet de kans heeft gehad om Samuel persoonlijk te ontmoeten, dan is dit een goede gelegenheid om kennis te maken, zijn verhalen te horen en ideeën en ervaringen uit te wisselen.

We hopen dat u er bij kunt zijn. Als u betrokken vrienden of collega’s wilt meenemen, vraag hen dan zich persoonlijk aan te melden.

Para erradicar la miseria, basta pagarles a los pobres, reza un viejo adagio. La idea puede parecer ilusoria, pero ha convencido a las autoridades de la ciudad holandesa de Utrecht de que, a partir de este mes, se transformará en la urbe donde (tal vez) deje de existir la indigencia.

Invitation Human Rights Café Mexico 21 january 2016

PBI the Netherlands would like to invite you for the fourteenth edition of the Human Rights Café. In September, we have shown the premiere of the impressive documentary “Portraits of a Search”. This film shows three Mexican mothers, desperately searching for their missing sons and encountering resistance from the Mexican government.
With over 26.000 people missing since president Felipe Calderón declared the war to the drugs cartels, this unfortunately is a well-known problem in Mexico.
Human rights defender María will be in the Netherlands soon to raise awareness about this painful issue. María is part of the Fuundec Collective (Fuerzas Unidas por Nuestros Desaparecidos en Coahuila), in which she lobbies for the responsibility the authorities should take, and simultaneously try and find her own son, Iván, who has been missing since 2011. During this Human Rights Café, she will tell us about her experiences dealing with this national issue. This evening will be held entirely in Spanish, though the documentary will be English subtitled.
Entrance is free and you will be provided with a free drink and snack.

PBI Holanda les gustaría invitar a asistir a la decimocuarta edición del Human Rights Café.
En septiembre hemos mostrado el estreno del impresionante documental “Retratos de una búsqueda”. La película se trata de tres madres Mexicanas buscando desesperadas a sus hijos desaparecidos, mientras se encuentran la resistencia del gobierno Mexicano. Con más de 26.000 desaparecidos desde la Guerra contra el Narcotráfico declarada por el ex presidente Felipe Calderón, lamentablemente es un problema bien conocido en México.

Para crear consciencia de ese doloroso problema. María de los Ángeles Mendieta forma parte de FUNDEC (Fuerzas Unidas por Nuestros Desaparecidos en Coahuila), colectivo que busca apoyar a familiares y víctimas de desapariciones y la responsabilidad que las autoridades del Estado de Coahuila deberían tomar; simultáneamente intentar y encontrar a su hijo, Iván, quién ha estado perdido desde el 2011. Durante este Human Rights Café, nos contará sobre sus experiencias tratando con el problema nacional de desaparecidos.
La velada será completamente en español, aunque el documental será subtitulado en inglés. La entrada es gratuita y se le proporcionará una bebida y un bocadito.
